Naked Buell
Does anybody know how to take off the trim on the outside of the doors and small windows behind the doors? On my Rx, the black trim that sits up against the window needs some attention. Some paint is peeling and one piece looks like it just needs to be replaced. Does anyone know how it comes off? I don't want to break it.

Naked Buell
Come on people. No one here has ever taken off the trim on the window??? Seriously? Am going to have to break mine to see???
colemanapp
I recently painted my RX and left that trim alone. That was decided after I attempted to remove similar trim from a parts sedan that I have. No bueno on the removing that trim, at least for me. Naked Buell
Cool. Thx for the reply. One of mine is rusted and I think I need to make a new one. Hey I would love to see a pic of the Rx you painted. I am at the point with mine too and am going back in forth whether I should paint it or Linex it. carfreak85
I'll try to snag a picture of the procedure from my FSM tonight. There are several sets of reasonably priced EA82 FSMs on ebay right now.
colemanapp
This is before paint but still a very nice car. It has some unseen dings in this pic.
Naked Buell
Thx CarFreak. I would appreciate that, to be able to actually see what is involved. Nice pic Colemanapp. It looks just like mine. Or it did. I have no hub caps, just the white rims, I have a scoop in the hood and I totally cut my tail light section off, due to rust really bad, and custom made new tail light section. I went with 3 round led tail lights and am in the process of welding up a new custom rear bumper.
Naked Buell
So I finally decided to try to pull it off. Does anybody know where we can get replacement trim????
carfreak85
Good luck finding replacement trim... Start looking for a parts car.
Naked Buell
If not I will just fabricate some new ones. I was hoping to find something on the shelf, but as I said on another post, if you want to keep our rare older subies on the road, we will have to get creative. Oh, and if I did find a parts car, chances are those trim pieces are rusting away like mine are and you pretty much ruin them taking them off. colemanapp
The trim at base of window and along outside of door on mine was pretty pealed up and rusted. I ended up sanding it down and then brushing on some really thick rust stop oil based enamel and it ended up looking pretty much like the original stuff, from a distance. Naked Buell
The ones on the doors are looking pretty baked from the sun and peeling. When you put your arm out the window it sometimes scratches you. So I am now thinking of different options. One of the drivers side trim on little window was rusted away like termites to wood if you know what I mean. And what is bad about it, that trim catches a lot of dirt and grim which is why it rusts that thin metal. I am thinking of making some pieces that look good and that you can remove easily for cleaning.
