YnotDIY
Hey ya'll looking to replace my clutch cable and I'm seeing two different sizes when I look up the part. 33.5" and 36" will both sizes work for the 88 GL? I don't want to take mine off and measure...looks like it's at the end of its life. If anyone knows which size or if either would work lemme know. GeneralDisorder
Get the cable from the dealer using the VIN. Aftermarket cables are terrible for Subaru's don't go there. GD
YnotDIY
Ah okay I'll go that route then. Bummer the aftermarket ones are junk.

BEECHBM69
how do we get one if the dealer thats local doesnt carry 80s subaru parts? Few of them have our stuff on the shelf, but they all should be able to order it for you, particularly if you have the part number. There are numerous dealerships with online ordering as well. GeneralDisorder
how do we get one if the dealer thats local doesnt carry 80s subaru parts? Dealers carry very little in general. Most parts even from the 90's must come from the warehouse. Find the part number on "parts.subaru.com" and ask them nicely to order the part for you. If you can't find it there ask here. There are people with parts manuals. GD

GeneralDisorder
They aren't that expensive. Typically less than $75. And for sure they are still available. Aftermarket will last a few months at most. Factory will last 30 years. GD

YnotDIY
so it's been a bit, but the new cable really improved the feel of the clutch. everything is much smoother now and a lot less play in the pedal. A++
