Loyale w Cheese
91 Loyale w 2" lift - 205/75/15 - 6 lug conversion I've noticed my engine seems to be very loud when running 60-70mph. There are no real vibrations and everything seems to be working fine...it just seems really loud - louder than I remember it being previously. Thoughts? Loyale w Cheese
Thanks Dave...I don't think it's exhaust but it could certainly be U-Joint or Center Bearing. Is there a way to check before replacing?

Len Dawg
Hmm... could be the atmospheric pressure.. I notice the same thing sometimes.. when we had the snow everything was quiet and Susanne was low rumbling truddgin sound.. now it's gone and it's a mere 30 something degrees everything seems a little louder.. Could be the tires too.. I notice the difference between new and old.. the more worn the louder..

It's been a bit warmer over the past couple weeks...which is when I started noticing it. I can deal with the noise especially since I'm seeing much better mpg when it's not below zero
DaveT
The time I found the noisy driveshaft, I just unhooked the thing at the rear diff. It was obvious when turning by hand in opposite directions across the bad u joint. One was wiggly One was sticky / rough when bending.
Naked Buell
Yep, What DaveT said; get underneath it and grab ahold of the driveline and try to turn it by hand, shake it, see if you can't get movement. If not, not your u-joints.
