Hi all,

I just purchased a 2017 Legacy Sport.  I'm looking forward to look around the forum, meeting a few people, and getting a few questions I have answered.

Cheers

Thanks GreaseMonkey.

So, my new Legacy has been in the shop since Monday...  The remote start only worked about 50% of the time.  If, over the weekend I didn't drive it, the remote start would not work.  I also noticed this irritating air sound somewhere at the driver side door.

I mentioned the air sound when I brought the car back to have the remote start installed a week after my purchase.  Of course they said they didn't notice any sound at all, which blew me away because I used to have a 16 year old Jeep Cherokee that didn't have that much air noise at a car door.

Well a few weeks after having the remote start installed I noticed it not always working.  I scheduled a Monday appointment so that I could drop it off Sunday morning and have it set for 24 hours, making sure to note to the service rep that they need to test the remote start before they move it into the bay to work on it... for obvious reasons.

On Monday they couldn't reproduce the remote start issues and told me they didn't hear the air sound...  Well, keep it another day and don't try it until late in the day.  And please check the air sound again.  So, Tuesday I didn't get a call from them, which was irritating.  So, I called them, and spoke with a different rep who scrambled for the paperwork and said the issue couldn't be reproduced and he hadn't heard about if they found anything regarding the air sound.  I was a bit skeptical and figured they didn't even really look the second time around.

Keep it another day I said.  Wednesday, I received no call and I was pissed.  So, I figured I would just show up on Thursday afternoon, see if I could get the remote start to work, take a ride with the service manager to see if we could hear the air sound together, and then speak with the general manager.

Half way to the dealership I get a call, and lo and behold, it was the service rep, they were able to reproduce the remote start issue and when calling Subaru tech to troubleshoot the remote start, they asked about an air sound coming from the driver side door.  Well, apparently, there's a DESIGN FLAW somewhere at the bottom of the part where the seat belt height adjuster attaches, all the way down by the floor.  I was told there's a gap down there that catches air, making the sound.  And that they have made some sort of rubber insert to block the gap and address the noise issue.  So their plans are to install a new remote start and install that insert to block the air.

I was so psyched that they found and were able to address the problems that I forgave the lax communications.

I made it the rest of the way to the dealership to pick up a loaner, a 2017 Outback, and I noticed the air sound in that too.

So, I should be getting my new Legacy back Monday or Tuesday.  Fingers crossed.

I had them pull the remote start since it never worked but maybe 50% of the time.  I was surprised they agreed to it.  Cut me a check for $500+.  Honestly though, I was hoping the manager would make it right.  I really wanted that remote start, lol.

So, I plan on getting my windows tinted in the next few months and I would like to add an amp and sub, but I can't post in the Stereo section, not sure why.  Do I need a certain number of posts before I can post in the Stereo thread?
