EA81 Vacuum Advance toast, replacement options?

So, I can blow air through the diaphragm of my vacuum advance, obviously its not holding vacuum. Sucking on the vacuum line, causes no movement of the distributor linkage. Classic vacuum leak symptoms. It's a Nippon Denso disty. Any options on replacing just the vacuum advance part? I pulled it off and it says 029450-6820, there is also a '4f 3', but anyways, googling around seems to return nothing.

 

I'd rather not replace the entire distributor. Any options out there?

U know I can't remember where I sent it but I looked online and found a company and called them and told them what I had and they said to send it to them. He said they tear the vacuum advance open and he confirmed that the diaphragm deteriorated and then rebuilt it and then sealed it and sent it back. I looked through my files and can't find a record of it. 

My advice, look for a company that rebuilds distributors and call them and see what they say. That is what I did. It was under $100 bucks to fix it.

Damn. $100 bucks. I bet this is a $6 part somewhere, somehow. Been considering a self-repair as well. What's inside, a rubber diaphragm attached to the lever, a possible spring? Shouldn't be too tough.

 

Can't send it in. I would, but unfortunately this is my commuter at the moment (and for the foreseeable future), I kinda need that lever in the right place until I get a replacement... :)

 

Try http://www.philbingroup.com/, I haven't used them yet personally, but I plan to. They have a great reputation here on the boards, from what I've seen. And when I called about getting axles rebuilt, the guy was super friendly and knew exactly what I needed. (They just didn't have it at the time.)

Yeah but we can't get the parts for ours cars so we have to do what we have to do. My Brat ran great but had no power until I found out that it wasn't advancing. So the only place I could find was a guy that would rebuild it. It's cheaper than a whole car and I ain't giving up the Brat. Hello. No way.  :)

Yeah, If it were mine, I'd probably look for one similar sized.  Disassemble it and rebuild the Subaru one.  I did something very similar to an old fuel pump once.  On of the kind driven by a lever riding a cam, on a flat head 6 cylinder 404cu" engine.

Hi, let me know how you make out with that, if i get a chance i will look thru my stuff and see if i have an nd in my pile of stuff. I prefer to use the hitachi even though the bushings wear out quickly the electronics seem to be much better.
