scobbyru
So I talked to tein today and we did some talking about some custom coilovers for the gl with legacy spindles with gl camber plates and factory rear trailing arms. I'm getting some measurements and sending them some stuff so they can get all the correct measurements and get me a quote to make them. I wanted to pass this along because I've seen a lot of post about coilovers so I wanted to spread the word on what I was planning on doing for my build :-D
83subaruGLchick
I'm VERY interested in these as well If you could let me know as soon as you know on the Price that would be greatly appreciated. From what I understand they would fit like factory there wouldn't need to be any major custom fabrication?
Caboobaroo
So they're going to build you custom coil overs that mount to a Legacy knuckle? You do realize that if that's what they're doing, you can buy some for a 2000-2004 Legacy fitment. You will need to drill 3 new holes in the strut tower but they bolt to the Legacy knuckles. The rear, being a coil over shock, is similar to the same era of Legacy (00-04). The top hats need to be played with with parts from the original suspension to make them bolt in. It's been done before, with Tein, BC, Cusco and more. Don't let them con you into selling "custom" coil overs for more then the off the shelf ones. scobbyru
I did more research and found that if you get 05-9 legacy coilovers you widen the top hat holes and for thebrear you use a bushing inf the coilovers to make it smaller because the gl lower shock bolt is smaller then the legacy. But bad thing is I just sold my gl :-( had get rid of it due to a turn of events

suberdave
I have done Tein coilovers on both my GL's. just buy coilovers for a 05-09 then mod them a bit. if you buy top hats for a GC impreza they will bolt right up too. Here are some pictures from like 2007. www.suberdave.com

sk0tch
I’m really just trying to find an alternative from the tension rod. As one broke on me and I can’t seem to get that crap out.
