kmn0601
Hi all, Today I got the two codes P0303 and P0304 from my vehicle. The symptoms I've experienced with the car are not constant, they are intermittent. Yesterday I was in a parking lot at low speed (2nd gear) and the car started sputtering. The check engine light flashed a few times so I immediately pulled into a space and shut the car off. When I got out, I noticed a sulfur smell. I let the car sit for about 30 minutes and when I started it back up, the behaved as if nothing ever happened. It drove the trip back home beautifully right until I was outside my dad's driveway dropping him off. It sputtered a couple times and the CEL flashed a few times so I just shut it down again, there was a slight sulfur smell this time (not as strong as before). This time, the cruise light was flashing too. Again, I left the car off for 30 minutes and when I started it up, the check engine light was on solid (not flashing) and the cruise light was flashing. I drove it home (about a 10 minute drive) and it behaved fine and as if nothing happened but the CEL was still on. About a year ago, the car did this once. It sputtered once and then stopped and did not do it again up until yesterday. I had attributed that occurrence to bad gas since it did not do it again and stopped immediately after it happened. I am puzzled by this because the car will have infrequent moments where it will sputter under acceleration but the majority of the time it performs normally. One thing I wanted to note is that the car so far has only done this when idling or at slow speed. Do you think that because the car has done this with infrequency there is a possibility that this may be a simple enough fix? What could be causing this? Thanks for any advice. Fairtax4me
Worn out spark plugs sounds most likely. How old are the plugs and how many miles are on the car?
kmn0601
The car has 135,000 on it. Supposedly the spark plugs were replaced but in some ways I am doubtful.
Fairtax4me
Could have been replaced with the wrong type of plug. Certainly worth a look. If there's anything but NGK in there they need to be replaced.
kmn0601
I'm just hoping it's nothing major like a valve cover gasket etc. I'm hoping that because this is not occurring frequently, it will be a relatively simple fix.
GeneralDisorder
3 and 4 share one side of the coil pack. I would start by looking at that. GD

Valve cover gasket is about as "major" as a bad paper cut. And a heck of a lot cheaper than a new OEM coil pack. Which is what it sounds like you need.
