PeterD Posted June 16, 2004 Share Posted June 16, 2004 My 84 suby is getting a makeover. i cold have had my hands on an 82 wagon but i figured this was a better start and my mother would not go nuts about having another car in the drive way...we already have 6 drivable cars in the yard..a 7th at my uncles house. so i will get some new fenders and fix some front end damage and use it for a little while. i will have to rebuild the carb and weld up some new exhast pipe and fix the front bumber and grill but it should all be an easy process if all goes well. that way with this as my driver i can get started with cleaning up my 84 vw scirocco, i want to have the body all fixed and i would really like to respray it before augest. i doubt that will happen though, here is a pic of todays progress. I have to fix were the right light mounts, my sister hit a car and that is pushed in a few inches. and she also managed to smash both fenders . lucly there isn't any major damage just surface parts. PeterD Posted July 17, 2004 Author Share Posted July 17, 2004 A long and lost post i have made is back Today i just got back from snaging some fenders and a hood off an 82 DL wagon, i thought they wouldn't fit but they do just a different color is all. if we can get my uncls car dolly i will have the car at home and hopfully snag a few bits. its a ea81 with a 5sp 2wd. oddly enough the car has cruse control and no rear wiper..just a smooth rear hatch. i should get some pictures of my first suby project. PeterD Posted July 28, 2004 Author Share Posted July 28, 2004 well as of last week and monday i got the car running and put back to gether. i gave her a wash last night and she is nice and shiny...though i still need to buff out the hood and right fender. when i got it back on the road i found a problem with the left front axle...possibly bad splines on the hub or the axle so i need to get a part for that..but over all she drives real nice...aside from a crapy carb....i hate carbs. They rock! i havn't put over $200 bucks into it....a weber carb is $$$$ so it woun't happen. unlessi can get a used cheap one... im going to clean it out and see if that will help...it just has a massive flatspot...rev it to fast it sputters and wants to die...
