B.H.G. WHATS IT WORTH? 2004 anniversary edition Legacy.

Recommended Posts

The legacy is a 2004 anniversary edition Subaru wagon. Body is in perfect condition along with interior. 200,000mi.

However this car has a blown head gasket and won't even start.

Should I??

Post an ad on Craigslist? What's fair?

Call to have it towed (free)?

Part it out piece by piece selling the parts as I go?

Any input would be greatly appreciated!

Repair with used engine

Sell as is on craigslist for $500 and no less (start at $700 if you're not good at setting a price and keeping it).

Find a cheap 00-04 needing a transmission or front end wreck and swap your parts over. Front end work would be the easiest. Bumpers, fenders, hood are all super easy to swap and many light end wrecks that is all they need. I've swapped a hood and headlight in an hour and had a dirt cheap nice wagon in an hour or two. If cars are different color, Paint is $250 per panel at a shop or get matched cans at NAPA for $20 and do it yourself.

Parting out varies but without a concerted effort I find it a low grade option.

04 35th anniversary edition is a 6-cylinder, right?

I know the market is different there, and rust-free bodies aren't that rare, but here it would still have some value. And good used EZ30s are not hard to come by, nor expensive.
