potter2010
Hello,Just a quick newbie question: what is the rod/bar thing circled in the images? I'm trying to track down noise in the front end (another topic) and was poking and proding at things when I noticed that this bar was easily movable and that when I lifted it up and let it drop it hit against the metal below it and made a noise, though different than the noise I'm tracking down. I however cannot figure out what it attaches to or what it's for. I'm thinking it's either not supposed to move or there should be something to stop it from hitting metal on metal. Any help is appreciated!
CNY_Dave
Car is a ... ? Hard to tell where that is. It looks to be too high to be the front sway bar, but maybe is. Dpes it look like a piece of pipe and has rubber hoses at each end?

Dpes it look like a piece of pipe and has rubber hoses at each end? Sorry, was typing it out while the wife was talking. It's a 2010 Outback. It almost seems like solid bar than a pipe. It disappeared on each side so I couldn't easily see where it went. It's just above and behind the oil pan, almost directly above the sway bar. I was looking through my repair manual and didn't see it mentioned, or missed it.
Numbchux
Power steering pipes, going from one side of the rack to the other. There are 2 of them, one of them has a rubber section in the middle (which can also be seen in the picture), and the one you have circled is metal all the way across. In the box marked "34190C*B" in this diagram: It looks like there is a support bracket pictured there, but the only way Subaru sells it, is with both of those pipes (part number 34190AJ000, MSRP $69.28).

Hey, thanks! I'm guessing the support bracket has come loose or fallen off then. Since I'm not leaking power steering fluid I think I'll pad the bar and leave it for now or see if I can see a loose bracket. I could not figure out what it was so this is awesome! matt167
go to junkyard and find a tube stand off from a junk car. Does not need to be Subaru, any brand will do. zip tie the line through that hole and use the stand off as a cushion..
