My brat's been stolen, heart is broken

Recommended Posts

Hey guys. I haven't posted in awhile as I've been living in Japan the last few years. My beloved Brat was given to me by my Grandfather who was a designer on the project before he passed away. This Brat was his car that he used at the test track. It was stolen Sunday night from the Queen Anne area of Seattle. Please keep an eye out and let me know/call the police if you see it. WA plates B7665N.

Oh no!  I will keep my eyes peeled East of Seattle.

Hopefully it was just taken for a joy ride and was parked somewhere nearby.  I would start canvasing the immediate 2-mile radius from where the car was taken.  My wife's friend had their Outback stolen from the Carter Subaru service lot a few years back.  It took about a week, but the SPD found it abandoned and undamaged just a few blocks away.

I hope a police report was filed within a day of the theft.  Set your Craigslist notifications for your Subaru Brat as you could set it up as soon as one surfaces.  Also look at all ways the thieves could fence it.  Transporting across state lines is also a very serious crime.  Hope you track it down, do research on how people have been successful retrieving their cars, happened to me once.

Keep us updated; since you can't successfully nullify the vin number, I'm not sure how thieves would fence this one, chop shops aren't going to give you much. Think like a criminal and fight them on that basis.  The vehicle I had stolen in the 1980s turned up after a joyride by some punks days later.

Good grief. That's incredibly unfortunate.

Did the police mention what the typical prognosis is and how they're usually found?

Spread the word via Facebook and Nextdoor (if it's sizable in your area)

Talk to the dealer and/or see if you can get this article on TV or paper? It's a stretch but if the right person heard the grandfather story and being in a Subaru area it would be journalism worthy. I'd already like to hear more - so would others.

There's a zillion "Seattle area - stolen subaru..." threads - is there a trend with how/where those are found?

Out in the toolies the other side of Snoq, but I'll keep my eyes peeled here. And I'll put the word out to some trucker buddies that are in and out of PoS and PoT, from out here, on the daily.

Brat was found! I really appreciate everyone's support and encouragement. It looks like it had been being used for robberies as it was filled with electronics and other junk. Police have hold of it now and we will get it back when they are finished with it. I'm still in Japan but wasn't able to see it, parents went to check it out. They said that there are a few new dents and some rear window damage, but we will be so happy to have her back.
