Naked Buell
Hey guys. So 130,000 miles on the 2.5i. Runs great but when the ac pump engages you can feel the ac clutch is dragging enough to feel it when you are driving and you can hear a "chirp". So I figured the bearings are probably getting worn out. So I have a new ac pump and and the oil and refrigerant to recharge. Can I get some advice here about disconnecting the lines and then recharging. I can't seem to find the video on utube. thx
GeneralDisorder
You disconnect the hoses (replace the o rings) and then you put them back on. Pull a vacuum, then charge it with the ounces listed on the core support sticker. It's pretty simple. GD
Naked Buell
What do I do about pulling a vacuum? I don't have an evac pump?
1 Lucky Texan
if you go quickly and it isn't raining, etc. - unlikely to get much moisture in the system. auto parts stores loan out vacuum pumps, maybe the gauge set too but I dunno about that. or, do the mechanical work as GD said and take the car to a shop to charge. (make sure your crank pulley isn't separating. it's rare but, they can slip and make a noise, it would be very unlikely on a 10 year old car though)) Edited May 23, 2017 by 1 Lucky Texan
GeneralDisorder
It's usually around $100 for a shop to vac and charge. Or you can buy a vacuum pump. They aren't too expensive anymore. GD
