revtim
1006 Legacy 2.2 Wagon I tried the A/C for the first time today and noticed that the pump does not engage. I do not hear a click or anything but if I try to spin it, it spins freely. Don't know if ti's a bad solenoid or so low on freon it has cut out. Checked the 10 AMP fuse and it's good but don't know how to check those big black relay fuses so i'm stuck Where do I go from here? thanks,
GeneralDisorder
You replace all the o-rings and charge the system after pulling a vacuum on it. It's out refrigerant and will need the o-rings to hold in the new charge. GD
revtim
Is replacing the o-rings a DIY kind of job or one I should leave to my mechanic?
rabbidrabbit
A/C isn't that hard to work on. Replacing o-rings is pretty simple, just be cautious not to damage the new ones when you put it back together. Most importantly, make sure your system is completely vacuumed of all Freon before doing anything. These lines have quite a bit of pressure and when they pop the blow oil and Freon everywhere. Not good for the eyes or the environment.
GeneralDisorder
You can do the o-rings yourself. But have someone with a proper gauge set and refrigerant scale do the recharge of the system. Need to insure it holds a vacuum and then need to charge by weight for best results. GD
