mentis
My GL-10 has had this issue since I bought it and my Subaru only mechanic, as well as another trusted mechanic both have no idea about the cause of this: While in gear (particularly at lower speeds, i.e. 1st and 2nd gear) the car jerks when the gas pedal is released (and neither clutch nor brake are applied during this). It jerks again when the gas pedal is applied. When I first bought the car, it was missing both cat and muffler, and all pipes connecting those two. So I thought it might have something to do with that. But after exhaust system was installed, the problem persisted. One of the engine mounts was also found to be missing the bolt, and that was repaired. No effect however. Any ideas as to this issue are very much appreciated. SubaRube
Mine is the same way. I believe my tranny mount is in need of replacement, but I don't know if that's the problem. This is my second GL so I'm used to it. There "jerky" cars. That's why I like 'em.
mentis
Haha...I like that. About the tranny mount, I had the mechanic put it up on the hoist and check the tranny mounts, and they're all fine. So that's the other reason why they can't figure it out.
MorganM
I think it's just slop inherint with the rubber mounting system. The tranny and engine are all on pretty spongey rubber mounts. Even the stabilizer bar on top of the engine to the unibody is on thick rubber bushings. Then all the corssmembers and subframes are mounted with thick rubber bushings. Helps make for a smoother ride but also leaves a lot of slop when she 'bucks' in certain situations. With the lfit kit in my wagon now, and letting out the clutch pretty quick at lows peeds, the gental 'slopping' that was always there is very exagerated. I really have to either be applying the brakes or using the gas pedal. I'm sure all new bushings and mounts would do wonders for this but honestly who wants to replace all that crap It's alot of work pulling all your maing assemblies appart just to slip in new rubber bushings. New mounts might do you some justice; they look fine and work fine but I'm sure are plenty 'broke in' giving you lots of slop. Just my 2 cents
mentis
Ahh. That does shed some light on the issue. And it's good to know that I'm not the only one experiencing this . I guess I'll just have to live with it. Though I might look into getting new engine mounts put it. Thanks for the info!!
