Checkerboard Comet
Hey guys, I have a 1986 GL auto 4WD with manual steering. Is it possible to simply pull the manual steering out and put in a power steering one from either a 1987 GL or a 1993 Loyale? If so, what is involved to do so.......could a novice mechanic pull if off? I would appreciate the feedback. Crazyeights
Yes it is possible. I have done it several times. I usually grab the entire front engine cross-member with the rack, hoses, and pump from the donor car. You will need all the brackets and bolts associated with the pump too. If it's an EA81 engine then you will also need the thermostat housing. Don't forget the coupling shaft to attach the rack to the steering column as it is different. Good Luck! It's a nice conversion and worth while. Edited June 25, 2017 by Crazyeights
