jsyme
R12 is superior to R134a in every way but cost. I have a 1989 GL wagon with 28 oz of R12 freon still in it. <not proven> http://www.techchoiceparts.com/refrigerant-and-oil-capacities/subaru Is it worth it to sell it to a local mechanic who still work with R12? If so what's a fair price? I read this article from the US EPA, God bless them, here: https://www.epa.gov/section608/section-608-technician-certification = lots of new rules come Jan 1 2018 thoughts? comments? ... and go! Subaru Scott
The system in my 88 XT body is still charged with R-12. Not planning on touching it until it quits working, but I rarely use it anyway. I skimmed through that article, but all I saw different was the requirement to reclaim and report ALL refrigerants. Am I missing something? Does any shop work with R-12 anymore?
Bratastick
R-12 used to be 99 cents a can, when I was a kid they sold BB machine guns that used the stuff. I've got about half dozen cans thinking about sending it to ebay.
DaveT
I've seen it on ebay. Depending on $ wouldn't mind having more.
