idosubaru
Get a free FSM online to follow along Resurface the heads. GD has a good thread about DIY Turbo Subaru gasket part number ending in 770 Valve cover, exhaust, intake gaskets - subaru or decent aftermarket. Cam seals, crank seal, oil pump oring, i always use Subaru on these, but can't say if it matters.
dp213
Cam, crank, oil ring, and rear main definitely matter on brand, Subaru only. I like the 6star head gaskets, but they are expensive
GeneralDisorder
6-Star is a ridiculous and insulting marketing ploy. They are just rebranded Cometic gaskets. They are not better in any way IMO than the Subaru 642/770. GD
Mike104
The full Subaru Part Number for the Turbo Gasket is 11044AA770. This is a Multi-Layer Steel gasket and is the preferred one for most non dealer shops they usually use what is specified/superseded by VIN number. I used them on my EJ20 head installation and they work great!
jono
Thanks for the info it will be helpful. Gotta say my local dealer uses genuine on ej with new bolts and not need retention. I have found same using quality genuine hg on me ea82s. Even though I check tension they never take any.
