montermahan
I am getting ready to do a top overhaul on my EA82. Is it possible to do the rod bearings without splitting the block?

You might be able to fuss with the rods with the lower cover off but if you're doing an overhaul why not do main bearings and the seals in between blocks and rings? XHighOctanex
Seals in between blocks, and do the rings (yes I know this doesn't require splitting the block not even sure why I mentioned it)
Gloyale
I am getting ready to do a top overhaul on my EA82. Is it possible to do the rod bearings without splitting the block? no. you can't access all the rod caps without splitting block. you can however pull the pistons from the top. Replace rings. Seldom seen a lower end issue with EA82. not enough power to do damage typically.
DaveT
I pulled all 4 rods without splitting the block on an EA82. Checked the clearances with plastiguage. Probably easier with it split, but it wasn't that bad.
montermahan
Does anyone have a part # for the Cylinder Block O ring, or a place I can order one. I have everything for overhaul but that.
