tmaloney90
Hey all. I am new to this formum so hello from Syracuse, NY and I apologize in advance if I am discussing a previously discussed question or posting in the wrong place. I have a 2011 Forester 2.5 non - turbo and have always run the napa gold 7712 oil filter due to the specs allowing for a higher oil psi bypass valve within the filter. I was recently given a bunch of napa gold filters and among them were a hand full of napa gold 7055's. As far as I can see the only difference is that the 7055 is a larger oil filter and has a higher spec oil psi bypass valve/spring within the filter. Is it safe to run this filter in place of the 7712? Has anyone had any experience with this? Any advice/guidance would be greatly appreciated. golucky66
At my shop we use the 7712 equivalent on EJ turbo engine. the 7055 goes on all EJ non turbos. Never had an issue Got one on my 09 Forester right now.
