Foolish people with hacksaws.. attacking ea82

Recommended Posts

ok ok, what have i done ?

I went out and bought a after market pod filter .. cut off the end of my standard ea 82 air filter and attached the pod to the air intake .

Now the car will not idle below 2000 rpm .. the only vacum hose that is not attached now is the one that is at the very first hose before the motor starts sucking air .. the hose that is on the intake nozzle of the air filter just after the cool air intake that comes from inside the right hand guard .. (right hand drive .. i am in australia)

I am completely stoopified .. NEVER HAND ME A HACKSAW AGAIN ..

i completely removed the air filter system... so just the bare carburetor was exposed . all hoses that where attachec to the filter are open .. and the bugger still idle's at 2000 rpm or more ..

ps .. the idle scew is all the way out and the throtle cable is loose .. i cannot down the idle anymore ..

excuse my grammer ..

umm i would venture to guess that all thos nice uncapped vacum lines are your problem even if it is fuelinjected of some form or carbed....

try putting a few golf tee's in the vacum lines .. bet the idle comes down

*ALL* vacume hoses need to be plugged into the engine OR capped off tight.

What year and model subaru?

Are you SURE this is carb and not the single point fuel injection EA82?

yes i have discovered where the vacum problem is comming from .. however blocking all tube's has fixed the problem ..
