mross71
Where do you guys pick up the air and oil filters for older Subies? I have an 81 GL Hatchback with the EA81 motor - can't find them by Fram.
JWX
Whatever you do Don't use fram! try NAPA they should have some
GeneralDisorder
The dealership is as cheap as any place really. WIX (same as NAPA) is good also. Fram is BAD - stay away. I like the WIX fuel filters - the engine bay mounted one is clear so you can see the element. Nice. Again - NAPA is the same thing. GD

WJM
DO NOT GET FRAM! NO FRAM! STAY AWAY FROM: FRAM NAPA can get the correct items, and WIX makes them. Dealer is also the same quality, but at OE spec, and is around the same price. DO NOT BUY FRAM. FRAM=EVIL, CHEAP, RUIN ENGINE!

mentis
It's funny. I never realized that fram was no good until I read this post. And I've always used fram for the other cars I've owned, which were (1) a '70 Buick LeSabre, and (2) a '77 Dodge Colt (with 55000 miles!!!). I got rid of the Buick about a year ago and got me my Sube (wife still owns the Colt). So, the things that's supposed to be funny here, is that since I got my Sube, I haven't used fram filters because every time I've gone in they didn't have any. I've always had to get the Pennzoil brand. Don't know if those are any good either, but now that I know, I'll go get the better ones. So, anyway, that's my little ironic story. Snowman
Hmmm.... my family has always used Fram filters with no ill effects to date. I have personally switched to Purolator on my soob just because they are apparently better and with the beatings my car takes, that's a good thing. If for some reason you want Fram filters, I know they exist for these cars. I've seen and used their air filters, and the oil filter is PH3682 if I remember correctly. GeneralDisorder
Yeah - For the Fram ones it doesn't list your year on the book - just use any Brat listing (87 works). Should still be in the book. But please don't use the Fram stuff at all if you can help it. GD
ShawnW
I have some dealer air filters I can sell if you want one and I wouldn't mind picking up a Purolator Oil filter for you while I am at the parts store. I go to Advance Auto for them.
