So I was removing the rear trailing arm on my wifes 97 Legacy to replace the entire unit with a donor from my parts car and one of the three bolts that bolt the pivot bracket to the body tore the nut that is welded inside the unibody lose.i cut the head of the bolt off and fished out the other part from inside.any ideas on how to get a bolt in that location now?this car is being a pain due to rusted parts!

Don't know if you have access large enough to slide in another nut somewhere else on that frame rail, but if you do ....

 

Can't recall whether it was this present OB WGN or my last one, but the trailer hitch came with blind nuts for inside the frame rail, that had a 5 inch long thin metal tab welded to them. The idea was to bend the tab into a slight curve, feed it through a nearby hole large enough for the blind nut to go through, and then use the tab to slide the nut to the appropriate hole for the bolt.

 

Can you do something similar along the frame rail with a piece of welding wire tack welded to the nut (get a muffler place to tack weld the wire to the nut)?

the plow mounting kit for our Dodge has similar nuts for attaching parts to the frame rails... the metal strip was strong enough to actually be used kind of like a wrench for tightening..
