keastes
First off thanks in advance. So I'm looking at replacing the engine my '01 Forester. just want a sanity check here to make sure i don't go off half cocked. mostly, just want to confirm that i can swap it with any EJ251 engine, and if there is anything else i should keep in mind either sourcing the replacement or, installing it. matt167
EJ251, EJ252 or early EJ253 or even an EJ253 up to 2004. Swap cam and crank sensors. Cheap way out is a JDM EJ20 engine. EJ201/202/203 swap cam and crank sensors and use USDM intake. Very simple swap

Very simple swap sensor's from those respective models, correct? edit: cam==camshaft, and crank==crankshaft? wtdash
Keep the sensors that match YOUR cars electronics. camshaft/crankshaft is correct.
