brentlysubaru
Are the rear upper strut mounts the same between the awd and the fwd? I picked up a set at the upullit off of a 95 fwd impreza and after I got them home noticed they look a little different from what I remember. I don't have any off to compare. I'm putting them on 97 outback struts. I'm lifting a 96 Impreza outback. Thanks
wtdash
Edit - see below for source: Only FWD rear struts will work on a FWD car. You can not use AWD rear struts on a FWD rear spindle....it will not physically bolt up.The fronts can be interchanged between FWD & AWD. Check out my notes regarding the strut differences between the 90-91 & 92-94 MY's Rear's top hat/strut mount won't fit. '95+ Legacy used a different bolt pattern. Fronts are the same. '93-2001 (?) Impreza were the same as '90-'94 Legacy in the rear. Read-up as it's covered on most Subie sites for more specifics. idosubaru
So the difference is between Impreza rear and legacy rear, not FWD and AWD right? Edited November 30, 2017 by idosubaru
wtdash
So the difference is between Impreza rear and legacy rear, not FWD and AWD right? If you're asking me, I've updated my post. .....I don't know if the struts are the same, but can't imagine the rear top mount bolt patterns would change, but the lower strut mount - @ the spindle/hub might? Edit: Googling found this from one of the 'mod-fathers' of Subarus (Hopefully Peaty won't be offended) Josh C. from Legacy Central: Only FWD rear struts will work on a FWD car. You can not use AWD rear struts on a FWD rear spindle....it will not physically bolt up.The fronts can be interchanged between FWD & AWD. Check out my notes regarding the strut differences between the 90-91 & 92-94 MY's I would then postulate that this applies to Imprezas, too.
