Snowman
Hey, I need to get a key for an 89 GL wagon. I took the rear gate lock out of my parts car and put it in one that I sold, and I don't have any keys to the parts car. I tried the subaru dealer in Juneau, but they said they can only release key codes for cars that they have sold. What can I do?
edrach
Take off the upper door panel on the passenger side and either remove the lock assembly or use a mirror and flashlight to read the key code for the lock. (On my old GL wagon it was W935 or something like that). Take that number to any quality locksmith and he'll cut you a key for about $15; after you check it out, have duplicates cut as needed from that key. TomRhere
Where can one get key blanks from? No-one around these parts has any to fit the locks, and I'd like to get some new keys made.
GeneralDisorder
Nissan key blanks are all you can get these days. Same ignition. My key's (one's a cole, and the other is an ilco) both have a "62DT" on them. I'm guessing that's the model of blank you should use. One says Datsun, the other says Nissan. ShawnW
WalMart and HomeDepot both have a key system that has blanks that work on Subaru's.

NV Zeno
Try some of the dealers and quality Sube shops like Smart Service in Seattle or S-Wing's Stuff in Denver: http://www.s-wingsstuff.com/ , or maybe Askim's near San Francisco: http://www.askimsauto.com/Home.htm. Just my 2 bucks

northguy
Kelly, you could always send me the lock you pulled and I can take it to the nearby locksmith and have it repinned to the already existing key for the car.
