Ea Wiper Motor Upgrade?

Recommended Posts

What about them are you trying to change?  I never had trouble with any of mine.  I still  have the original stainless steel blade holders, that most people replaced with the universal things years ago.  None of those that I ever had worked as well as the original ones, but that has nothing to do with the motor.

No I'm talking about the motors in the older GL's. The Ea82's are better, way better than the Ea81's. I want upgrades for the ea81 wipermotors; not the wipers themselves.

Are your referring to the fact that the EA81 wipers don’t really have a “slow” setting?

Youd be a bit dry after thirty years of no lubrication!! I removed cowling grille panel and removed pivot of one end, cleaned it all up greased it, greased the other without pulling it out. Think I drilled a lube hole in the side. Work an absolute dream. Never had wiper motor trouble as such ...

Naked Buell, you talking about the stroke? Were you set the wiper to rest on the bottom against the windshield gasket and it still sometimes wants to hit the driver's side gasket during the stroke. Which ruins the driver's side wiper in short order.

just after helping someone learn difference between seals, gaskets and O rings you go and call a screen seal a gasket !!

My wipers sped up after all pivot points lubes up, new blades, and rain x on screen always helps

No I'm talking about how SLOW they are. When its rainy normally it seems I need them on high. But maybe you are right. I need to take them apart andlube the things like crazy.

Interesting, I have exact opposite problem. Mine wipe superfast even on the lowest setting.

My 1991 Loyale was slow on the wiper also.

So i added a ground wire from the wiper gearbox to the strut tower.

FIXED it quite well.

Wow. Didn't even think of that; and I'm an electrician by trade. :banghead:   I will try that and lubing them. Thx
