Attempt Job Myself?

Recommended Posts

My RX needs some work done. I have several oil Leaks, including the oil pan, valve cover gaskets, and cam seals. So, I want to change those, as well as the head gaskets, water pump, put in a cooler thermostat, change the timing belt and a couple other things, maybee if I'm feeling saucy put on an intercooler, and swap in some Delta cams. I have never tackled this kind of job before. I have gone as far as the valve cover gaskets on my EJ25. Should I attempt this job myself? Or maybee just get some good advice? My RX is not my daily driver.

Since you are doing all of that to the engine....my first bit of advice will save you HOURS of aggrivation and make life easy....

REMOVE THE ENGINE FROM THE SUBARU RX, and place it on a good engine stand that you can rotate the engine.

Invest in a speed handle/wrench.

Then, have at it!

Ive dont many many EA82T engines like what you are gettin' ready to do.
