MWLoyale
Hi, I have a 93 Loyale that I'm filling fluids with and getting ready to start up. The problem is whenever I fill it with coolant, it leaks out of the water pump. I've done the water pump twice with the same result, frustrating. Any tips on what gasket maker to use? I am using Permatex Ultra Black. What bolts to thread in first? I did the star pattern tightening. Do I even need the paper gasket that comes with pump? Any help is appreciated. Gloyale
chase the threads with a tap first. m6x1.0 maybe one or 2 holes are stripped? Paper gasket, no sealant. do you have a new, proper o-ring for the extension tube?
MWLoyale
Yes, I got a new one after the first leak to ensure a good seal. I'll try no sealant, thank you.
jono
where is it leaking from. YOU need to know that before doing any more work.. Assume you scraped all old gasket and goo n rust off mating surface first, then dry fit pump to face to make sure no weird stuff going on, then gasket and no go should work fine. I like to use fine smear of some sort of sealant. Some use grease lightly
el_freddo
New waterpump or old pump? This information is critical to be able to help - you haven't said it specifically so we can only assume given you say about the paper gasket that comes with it. If it's te old pump I'd suggest getting a new one. Cheers Bennie
somick
After you take care of the mating surface pay closer attention to the metal pipe seal. Aftermarket seals suck! I coat them with silicone RTV and they hold. Good luck, Sam
