suBowen
What is recommended for replacing exhaust parts on 2007 2.5 ltr Outback? The 'Y' section between the mid muffler and the final L/R mufflers has rotted but everything else looks good.
Rooster2
Check to see if there is a small, usually family owned, muffler shop that does torch pipe cut off, bends pipes, and brazes on repair pipe to just repair what is rotted out on your car. Don't bother going to any of the chain muffler shops, as they will only want to replace your entire exhaust system from the cat back, charging you big bucks. I hope you can find a small shop, cost should be $50-$75.
suBowen
Hey Rooster2, thanks for that, I am with you on that, always seems like an awful waste of everybody's time and money to replace unnecessary parts, landfill, shipping ya de ya de ya. I will be searching out the 'artizan' who can still wield a torch and has a conscience. If I find such a gem I will post the location and recommend as deserved. msmithmmx
If you have rotted exhaust welding will only do so much and work for so long. Buy a new system like this and have your local exhaust shop install. This is for an 06 https://www.upsw.com/06-subaru-outback-25i-wagon-nonturbo-resonator-muffler-exhaust-system/?gclid=Cj0KCQjwn-bWBRDGARIsAPS1svvaHNJTm72uWCkBeOOJ8JZOCMfU8L4mqvF3zGbHGg-1tSW05YL2eB0aAmAcEALw_wcB
montana tom
When I need complete exhaust sections I buy them from rock auto. Only order 1 piece at a time and shipping is cheap... add any little thing and your shipping goes thru the roof. Best place I have found if you can't do a small weld in repair.
