mkoch
1984 4WD GL, I need to replace the axle shafts, front. 200,000 miles, seems like a good idea to replace the front wheel bearings and seals while I am at it. What else should I do on this job?
Knucklehead Saloon
While the front end is totally pulled apart I'd suggest inspecting / replacing the following: - swaybar bushes (go with nolathane) - front struts (shock absorbers) - disc pads - disc rotors
colemanapp
ball joints
el_freddo
Tie rod ends and inspect/replace rack ends too. Then a wheel alignment. Or just do the shaft and ball joints, do an alignment and leave it be. I would replace bearings unless they looked like the grease was dry or they're making noises when driving. Cheers Bennie
Dee2
check transmission seals at axle connection for leaks.
