groaning front end

90 Loyale makes a horrible groaning sound when hard turning right at dead slow speed. I can feel it in the steering. I checked ps fluid level. Is there some bushing or whatnot that could be the culprit. How to diagnose?

could check your drive axles , looking underneith the front at the inner outer boots , just a guess ,

I'd give dollars to donuts that the cv joint (halfshaft) is gone. I'd know that groan anywhere. Alot of times they will start clicking when you turn to pre-warn you of one going bad. Look at the rubber boot just behind your wheel on the axle. You'll probably find a rip or a tear. Post again to let us know.. we'll help you find the problem. boing

I had my CVs replaced about three years ago including new boots. Thast sound you describe is now happening. What do you think?

might also be a wheelbearing that has gone south had that happen with my 83 and that thing came out in 4 pieces 3 of which were the outer race

i'd say wheelbearing also, if sloppy it can allow enough play, that, the brake rotor vibrates against the pad when the wheel is angled during a turn...

 

i just heard that noise on my ea81 hatch, later will investigate further
