Hitachi carb on 87 Subaru GL

I'm in the process of replacing my stock, worn out carb with a new one. My question, what is the best tool to remove the 4 10mm bolts holding the carb down onto the manifold? I can see all 4 but it is not straight down so I can't get a socket onto it. I can get a wrench on maybe 3 without too much difficulty, but all 4 would be a problem. Is there an angled 10mm wrench that will work for this? 

 

I know there is a way to do it, just my first time replacing this on this car.

I did this once, many years ago, on a 1986 EA82 .  Don't remember doing anything particularly unusual.  All I had was an ordinary combination wrench and socket sets.

 

Might have to take 1/12th of a turn at a time, flipping the wrench, or remove some other obstructing part?

get a set of shorty open/box ends.  harbor frieght has them for under $10.  great things, I keep them in the storage compartments in the rear of my wagon for emergency.

Did you take the spare tire off? That and some bolted down electrical wires towards the cab allow for a box end wrench. On the front you can remove the 3 little vac lines.

Sometimes you just need to sacrifice a cheap 10 mm spanner and shape it with a file or grinder, maybe even a hacksaw to make it work. A ring spanner with 12 or note points often gives best choice of short moves before reposition and another turn. I know a wrench only as the awkward shifting adjustable wrench. Hope you have better than this!
