How to remove torque converter

Have ej25 with seized engine. Had to remove engine with torque converter. Engine has a broken connecting rod that's jammed up in the engine. Trying to rotate the crank shaft to access the flex plate to torque converter bolts.

1/2" breaker bar, try rotating it in both directions.

If that does not work, pull the oil pan and push the broken rod out of the way.

The oil pan is off. The  end of the connecting rod that goes around the crank shaft is broken off an laying in the oil pan. The rest of the crank shaft is jammed up between two aluminium bars that are part of the block. Crank shaft will not turn clockwise with breaker bar or impact gun on crank bolt.

• You might pull the timing belt and allow the valves to close by turning the cam.  The piston/rod should move out of the way.
• Have you tried counter clockwise?

Took heads off. Hit piston head with sledge hammer and pipe. Started turning by crank bolt and the remaining broken off connecting run pieces came out . Now its turning enough to get the remaining  torque converter to flex plate bolts out.

Take an air chisel and punch holes in the rear of the block to access the bolts. The block is scrap anyway. This has worked many times and is really quick.

i know this issue has already been sorted out but i had an ej25 with similar issue and I cut access holes with an angle grinder. I was dirty and ugly but it was fast and effective

It's actually really simple - just use a standard right hand drill bit and the bolts will spin right out when drilled from the back.
