im wondering how much hoses you can cap off on the hitachi carb before it dosn't work....this is on my 84 wagen. my dad has already caped off a few hoses here and there and it has continued to pass emissions even without a cat. im just wondering what i should not cap off..I know very little about this carb and it seems it has some crazy vacume choke or some sort of vacume deal that opens the second butterfly...

well, you could always just try a bunch of stuff out and see what works and what does not. with the engine running, try capping things off one at a time and listen for a change in the idle. if it goes crazy on you, it might be a good idea to leave that one open.
