kmpdx
Hey guys, I am thinking of buying these wheels. Will they fit on my Loyale? I expect they will but just want to be sure. Does anybody know if the chrome part is just an insert? Can it come out? Also, what year and make did these originally come with? Thanks, kmpdx
FerGloyale
Those look like they are the deeper dish, curved spokes from early 80's GL (EA81 cars) I don't think they will clear the front brake rotors on your loyale. There is an EA82 version of this wheel that will fit. Chrome rings are just trim. rare to find a full set with them.
kmpdx
Okay. Glad I asked on here. This guy has two full sets. Thanks
moosens
Spacers behind the wheel. I was at an old dealer and they had a pile of them for the 4x140 wheels but I wouldn’t expect to find them easily now. Those wagons did have wagon wheel options but they are third generation of those wheels and the setback isn’t so severe. If those wheel you’re showing are from the 80-84 era they will rub on your outer tie rod. You can grind the rod end if no spacers. But I don’t really go for that method , even though others have done it. Probably something in archives about it.
moosens
And they will rub on turns only so be aware of that if you fit them up and all looks great. Turn the steering wheel and look again. Just sayin’ Incase you can’t resist these. People are always asking me for those wheels. If cheap enough they might work for you or you can pass them along easily. Edited August 19, 2019 by moosens
el_freddo
The curved spokes are the issue as FerGloyal has stated. They rub on the caliper. What you want is the set with spokes that have a much sharper bend in them with a flatter “face” of the spokes to hub surface. These clear the L series calipers. And don’t be fooled if they fit and you have worn brake pads. They can fit and work until you put fresh pads on, then the rim sits on the caliper or vice versa depending on your view of the matter Cheers Bennie
kmpdx
Thanks guys. Knew you would know the info on these. I didn't buy them since they would not work without modification. I thought they would look cool, but definitely satisfied with my current wheels. Thanks! kmpdx
