janeinaz
I am trying to decide between a 2005 Outback vs. WRX. (I am not considering the STI.) I test drove both, expecting to fall in love with the WRX, but really preferred driving the Outback. That said, I was looking forward to getting something different, as my current car is an Outback. I wonder if my preference of the Outback is simply that it's familiar. Being in the mountains of Northern AZ, I do need something that will handle winter driving conditions with ease, so there's no question but that a Subaru is my choice, I'm just not sure which one! Also, being in AZ I will get a light exterior color, but I'm not crazy about the interior I would then get w/an Outback. The interior of the WRX is more appealing to me. I'm likely going to drive both cars again today, and see if I feel any differently. I also hesitate to take on the added care the WRX will require in premium fuel, more frequent oil changes, etc.. So, maybe I've already decided! However, if anyone wants to throw in their opinion, I'd be glad to read it.
subeman90
If you like the wrx but the maintence/added costs of ownership scares you why don't you look into a 2.5 RS It is almost identical without some of the things that you don't like about the WRX and it is much cheaper. I saw a 2.5 RS sport pkg wagon at the dealer last week and it had a sticker of 19K. That is right a brand new cool looking car for 19K!!!!! just my opinion though.... janeinaz
If you like the wrx but the maintence/added costs of ownership scares you why don't you look into a 2.5 RS I spoke with my mechanic today, and he set my mind at ease about maintenace on the WRX. Matt, thank you, but I'm not interested in the RS or the Forester. I test drove both the WRX and the Outback again today, and liked the WRX better this time. One catch is that the extended arm rest gets in my way; I keep bumping my elbow. The dealer has several WRXs, but they all have this on them. I drove the Outback again, and was quite happy with it. However, I'm frustrated that the one thing that bothered me with the WRX was the darn armrest! (I'm just too short; it was just fine for my s.o..) So, I'm going to see if they get one in without this, as they said that removing it isn't an option. The arm rest issue aside, I know that I'd be quite happy with either car, it's just a matter of deciding. Decisions, decisions. . . .
