cwells
I have a 2006 B9 Tribecca with a 3.0 H6 engine with 190K. It recently started a rather severe oil leak. Drips about once per second. The drips are mostly dripping from the timing cover right in front of the oil pan. The oil is not coming from either of those two gaskets though. Is it coming from somewhere in between and above those two. Can't see where the exact source is. Its dripping from the bottom of the timing cover because it is the low point. Any input or ideas on where the source is would be greatly appreciated.
idosubaru
It’s hard to say without seeing it. oil pan. upper oil pan - that’s a killer job. or timing cover look at an FSM and view the exploded diagrams to see what’s in the area you think it’s coming from. 1 Lucky Texan
If it's coming from higher up, oil pressure sending switch/sensor might be leaking. They can leak a lot. kinda under the alternator?
CNY_Dave
Could be crank seal if it's dry above the crank.
Lightning Racer
Did you check the power steering fluid level?
heartless
the other half has an 06 LL Bean Outback with the H6 and oil leaks.. his is definitely coming from the oil cooler and apparently this is pretty common on these engines. I would suggest cleaning things up as much as possible, run it for a bit and try to determine exactly where the oil is coming from.
