xdeadeye1
I found this car for sale locally. - 2005 Subaru Legacy 2.5 GT Limited Sedan 4D. It has 105k miles. Ad says the engine started to knock and he parked it shortly after that. Should I stay away from this? I have done head gaskets with engine removed in my other 2.5. Would it be a matter of just getting heads re done? Or is this entail cracking the lower engine? etc.?
ocei77
You will need a new short block at the least probably. Rod knock means having the block checked for journal roundness and line honed if need be. A new block is the cheaper alternative You will then have to have the turbo checked to see if its still good. If it was a cheap and/or easy fix, it would've have been done already. O.
