photoghog
Hi all, I'm looking at pulling the trigger on a running driving 96 legacy LS but I have been reading conflicting reports as to whether the EJ22 from 96 was an interference or non-interference motor. Can someone solve this mystery for me? For my application, I want a non-interference EJ22 with OBDII which I initially thought was only the 95 legacy model. Am I wrong? Also, Does a 96 have single or dual port heads? TIA Edited April 23, 2020 by photoghog
ocei77
OBDII, non interference, single port heads. 97 on are interference. O.

Rampage
4 hours ago, photoghog said: I was hoping for dual port. 95 Legacy and up are OBDII. 95 heads are dual exhaust port and hydraulic lifters in the rocker arms and non-interference. 96 heads are single exhaust port and hydraulic lifters in the rocker arms and non-interference. 97 heads are single exhaust port and adjustable rockers and are interference. We have a 95 and 97. I put 95 heads and Y-pipe on the 97. It paid off when the cheap timing belt broke.
