Do It Sidewayz
I think an Oil Cooler on my car would be benefitical. Now...my question is..am i going to loose oil pressure because of it?? i'm running like 47 PSI max on my Autometer gauge right now. The car is a Subaru Justy...with custom turbo set-up

Do It Sidewayz
yes Alright...How much?? and how am i going to cure the problem??
archemitis
i dont think you will, the oil pressure is measured before all the oil goes through your lower end, so its measuring the restriction that the oil passages are creating. i was thinkin it raised the pressure just a tad on my ea82, because the oil doesnt get as hot as it used to. Is this using a oil cooler kit which uses a "sandwich" plate in between the block and the filter??
MorganM
Is this using a oil cooler kit which uses a "sandwich" plate in between the block and the filter?? Yes. I was just looking at it the other day on his GL wagon. Goes from the adapter you describe, to a remote filter, to the cooler and back.
rallyruss
this is the set up I run. its a volvo oil cooler with big ol hydraulic lines. if you run large enough lines and cooler you will have little to no pressure drop. the benifits of cooler oil far out weigh any minimal presure drop. That's some fancy lines there; where did you pick them up at? Oh also what Volvos came with oilcoolers? 740 T-I ? 940 ?

Oh also what Volvos came with oilcoolers? 740 T-I ? 940 ? the lines are custom made 4000 psi hyd. lines and fittings. I made them myself with acess to the crimping tool needed to crimp on the fittings. the main reason is that they are highly resistant to abraision/heat/chemicals. it would really suck to loose a motor because of a cheapy hose getting a leak. the cooler fits the 240 ,242 turbo volvos from the early 80s I had to get some special metric fittings to go onto it. Where did you get that "sandwich" plate. I'd also be interested in a remote oil filter, as mine is a bitch to get at as it's at the back of my engine. So if i use large enough lines i shouldn't have a problem?? What size are we talking about?? Also...is your sandwich plate have a thermostat in it, so it only opens when hot?? nutt7
WJM can get those sandwich things...Im not sure if it will fit a justy...and yes it does have some sort of t-stat in it although I am not sure of its ratings...I think he said 190ish. hope this helps eric

It can get really hot.
WJM
Yeah, that oil form the EA82T is REALLY HOT! Thats why on my new engine...the one that will have the BIG Delta Cams, WRX IC and mucho boost....plus some more high air flowing into and out of engine goodies....im going to get a cooler setup that does not have a t-stat and will be full flow for the oil at all times...large lines and large core. Its going to be a full out racing setup. This is...the experimental engine.

subusolo2nut
160 starts to open. 180 fully open. Will the adapter fit a EJ22 engine?? Putting one in T-Rex for next season--have a Jaguar XJ-6 oil cooler (similar to the Volvo unit, except with SAE fine thread fittings) & was looking for the sandwich---- Try driftin' in a Subie-----
WJM
the EJs and the EG and EZ are metric, the source i was getting those SAE ones for had the metric avalible...in a KIT only that cost as much as the OE SUBARU one for the STi and such....there WAS an individual adapter avalible...but some really smart person decied to discontinue it.
