Daughter was driving car and noticed that the gauge read 7/8 then next noticed it had dropped to 1/2 then after restarting the car it was back to 7/8. Thoughts? heartless Posted August 2, 2020 Share Posted August 2, 2020 18 yr old vehicle, the in tank portion (wiper plate? not sure what it is called) is probably dirty and/or worn out. probably best to start using the trip odometer, reset at every fill up, learn how far one can go on a fill and pay attention to that instead of the gauge. you can try adding some techron fuel system cleaner (or seafoam) to a tankful and see it that helps. it might, it might not. If that is the case, under the circumstances, is the pump is still operative(?) just a failing sensor? heartless Posted August 3, 2020 Share Posted August 3, 2020 lol, ok 12 yr old... what can i say.. long day. what do you mean by "integrated"? the pump and gauge sending unit have been a part of a single assembly for a long time... 27 is the fuel pump, 37 is the sending unit... together they are an assembly - #33... Rampage Posted August 3, 2020 Share Posted August 3, 2020 Yes the pump will run, it is a different circuit. There are two sending units. One on each side of the fuel tank. The FSM says to check both and the gauge and replace. You would have to remove them to check them. It does not mention the Body Integrated Unit shown in the diagram. The diagram shows a micro computer feeding the Fuel Gauge. I don't know if it is part of the gauge or the combination meter. Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
