KevinHartman
Anyone have any recommendations for shipping your car across the country? I don't mind paying extra to have it enclosed. My last experience shipping a car was HORRIBLE. I paid money to the director of this company and they promised me to send my new beautiful car in 2-3 days with no problems cause they ate a cake on this topic. But as u can understand by my impression of this "company" they didn't answer the phone and no one hadn't pick up my car from the ex owner. And that was really good for me , that i still had my car . After that, in a few weeks they called me back and gave me some sob story about how they were actually losing money on the deal. And the company was closed and they lose all contacts. But it was 3 weeks ago and i just asked them to give me back money. Nevertheless the problem is still on. There must be a better way?? I was planning on just doing the drive after my last experience but I'd at least like to know if there are some better alternatives out there? Car needs to go from New Mexico to Los Angeles. carfreak85
Pay with a credit card so you can dispute the charges? I've never had a car shipped, so not much help in that regard, but always have a backup plan for any online arrangement or purchase.
moosens
Do a search here on this board and you may likely find the shippers we have used. I’ll be damned if I can recall the one I just used but I’ll try to find it. Ours went from Reno NV to Tempe AZ and it was reasonable, after shopping many, and they were excellent all around on time , respect for the vehicle , etc. If you do an online search don’t accept the first wave , and it’ll be a tidal wave , you’ll get folks pounding on your email door. What did you buy ?
DaveT
I had one shipped from CA to CT. No problems at all. It was in 2014, I don't recall the company name unfortunately.
idosubaru
Montway - you pay the company a smaller fee and then you hand the driver the remaining balance due in cash when he gets there with your car. That would at least remove some of that financial risk. keep in mind the logistics involved are enough that you’re taking a risk no matter what. There’s no way to avoid it except to go get it yourself or pay high dollar specialists or a local tow or hauling company you can walk in and talk to but at $3 per loaded mile that will be $6,000+ a moving company or hiring your own driver would be an option but it would be mad $$$$$. You get what you pay for - if you don’t want to pay that then go with the usual large scale inexpensive transporters like Montway.
