2000 Impreza - Wiring for Towing a Small Trailer

I'd like to tow a small utility trailer with my 2000 Impreza. I have the hitch but need to install the basic 4-prong trailer wiring on the car. 

I read that some cars come with the wiring pre-installed from the factory ... so you just need a kit with the right connector to get the trailer wiring set up. Other cars require splicing, and hard wiring the extra cables, etc.

Not sure if my Impreza RS would have been set up for towing from the factory ... took a quick look today but didn't find anything ... but it was -10C and really windy so I didn't look that hard.

The connector if there will be down deep on the Left or Right side of the trunk side panel.  Have to dig for it.

My 2000 Impreza OBS had it.

You'll need an electronic adapter - your Subaru has separate brake and turn signals, so the adapter is needed to combine them.  The Subaru part was rather salty (if it's even available) but U-Haul had one that was more reasonably priced.

Thank you guys. I found an adapter at UHaul that'd do the trick! 

How hard is it to find the right wires to splice? I'm no electrician, but am reasonably mechanically inclined (from my days repairing almost everything on old VWs)

Wagon or Sedan?

The Wagons, have the tail light access covers inside.  Remove them and you will see the wires for the tail lights.  Everything is on the drivers side except for the Right/Passenger side blinker.

For that one you need to run a single wire to the pass side.
