mkoch
I am going to purchase the carb rebuild kit from rockauto.com. It is made by Standard Motor Products. While I have the carburetor out for a rebuild, what else should I do? Edit 1985 Brat. Edited January 31, 2021 by mkoch typo, and then to add more info. GeneralDisorder
Throw it as far from the car as you can and replace it with a Weber. I spent a LONG time learning to rebuild the Hitachi's and make them run right. Was a complete waste of effort. For the $300 price of the Weber kit - you can't beat the reliability and performance. It's not even worth looking at a Hitachi. GD
turbodog
I agree with the Weber, you will get better millage and more power, on a lifted wagon I managed to get 42mpg following a trailer with a bunch of fence... I miss that one
turbodog
what i did with my old webber setup was cut a peice of sheet metal into the oval shape the factory air cleaner has and welded on a couple bolts where the top screws on, gave it a nice stock ish look and i kept the oem filter

GD I Totally Agree. in case you need a guide for retrofitting the Weber on your Subie, ~► here is one for the EA82 is pretty similar to the EA81 engine, being the adaptor plate the main difference. Kind Regards.
