wtdash
What are the codes ? Common issue is a cracked Knock Sensor, esp. on the <'95 models.
3Pin
do you have a VSS speed sensor installed?
STEVEN BORNHORST
Have VSS from Small Car Performance, I will check the knock sensor. Haven't been able drive it long enough to get any codes, any other ideas are very welcome.

heartless
there are 2 pairs of single wire diagnostic connectors on older Subarus... one pair is green, the other is black.. they are there for a 95, I know this for fact since I owned one. they should be UNplugged for normal driving mode.. 95 was a voluntary OBDII setup, Subaru did not have to do that, but they did.. they also left the diagnostic connectors.
GeneralDisorder
I see you are local. We do offer a LINK ECU with adapter harness for the 95 and 96-98 cars. Would be far better than trying to use the factory ECU. GD
