Rooster47
I am looking at purchasing this Justy, but this isn't the sideways mounted inline 3 Cylinder that I was expecting... Has this been swapped? What is it? Thanks
George1943
From what I can see, it looks like either an EA71 or EA81 4 cylinder.
silverhelme
For one thing that's not a Justy. It has the spare tire cutout of an ea81-82 car. The only one remotely resembling a Justy is a ea81 Hatch which would more than likely make that a 1.8 ohv.
el_freddo
Yeah not a Justy. Got any other pics of the body shape? I reckon Silverhelme is on the money about it being an EA81 hatch. Cheers Bennie
88SubGL
I’m glad I’m not the only one who doesn’t think that’s a Justy.
el_freddo
It’s definitely an EA OHV model... I’m guessing an EA81 in that pic. Cheers Bennie
Scoby4wd
Its probably an EA81 hatch
Rooster47
Thanks all! Turns out it was a GL Hatch, not a Justy as advertised. I was still really interested in it, but the seller didn't really do a good job of selling me on it:
DaveT
These are not a great option for a daily driver, unless you collect a lot if spare parts and do your own repairs. Many parts are NLA. I have 2 wagons that I consider as 1 daily. Backup, and buys time for repairing .
GeneralDisorder
The problem isn't the car or the seller - the problem is YOU. You are looking for a daily driver Justy? You have lost your mind. A GL hatch is a 100x better choice but all of them are at least 35 years old and there's no parts available to use one as a daily. Rooster47
You're making me more determined than ever. I'm going to get started planning my cross country route for my first drive in it.
silverhelme
I suggest you listen to GD. I finally had to quit using my Brat as a daily and a toad after 25 years. Parts are getting hard to impossible to get and while I have parts cars and it's ej'd I can't tow a big enough trailer to bring them with me. I love my Brat but it has been relegated tow Saturday dump runs (2 miles round trip). I have several I would love to daily including a turbo coupe, a wagon and a sedan but all are down for lack of parts.
Rooster47
That is good to know. Thanks. I DD an old 70's Toyota FJ40. Parts are easy to get, and Toyota even announced recently they are bringing some more parts back into production. Guess I was hoping a newer Subaru would have fine parts availability. There's literally nothing for old Subaru's. This is not a Toyota FJ or a Chevy truck where you can just hop online and pay exorbitant prices for Chinese reproduction parts that almost fit and kinda work. I know all about that on my 86 Trans Am, 91 Formula, and 84 K5 Jimmy. My hatch is an ornament in front of my shop. It's much too difficult to get parts for to drive it. I can get parts for my M1079 LMTV easier than I can get parts for an 80's Subaru. Also - Justy's were absolute trash. I wouldn't want one in mint condition with a truckload of spare parts. The whole engine design was a solution looking for a problem Just get a Geo Metro if you want such a thing - at least the Suzuki engine in those was pretty good and you only have to baby the transmission on them.
