The Subaru that could
Hello everyone, I need to change my centre differential on my 98 impreza 2.2L. The process of removing the diff seems straight forward with the help of youtube. However, finding the correct diff has been a challenge for me. I called subaru and they found a new one at a price almost $800 canadian. Part number: 38913AA102 The parts guy then noticed that it says on his computer that this is not compatible with my car. He suspected it may be a liability issue. Lot of money to risk it not being the right one. Therefore, i would have to find a used one. Could only find three 98 impreza in wrecking yards in BC canada where i live. 2 have very high mileage. I was wondering if other year imprezas or maybe outbacks etc have the same centre diff as mine? I found a number on my transmission. Does anyone know if i can use this number to see what models use the same diff? It feels a bit like detective work Here is the numbers I got from my transmission: one sticker says 452453 another says: TY752VA5AA. Any help is greatly appreciated Ben
el_freddo
Centre diffs will swap between boxes so long as you have the matching housing and rear output shaft. Subaru Lego Cheers Bennie
The Subaru that could
Thank you Bennie! Lego is fun. I will look into the specs of transmissions that meet those requirements.
