NEED ADVICE :)

Put a message up a few times and appreciate all the help.

These symptoms  have been  going  on  for  a month  .... went over speed bump  heard small sweak. Week later turn left or right and heard a creaking sound. Towed to mechanic . New cv axle and wheel bearing.  Car ran great two weeks . Drove on highway  5 miles exit bumps  on  road  ....creaking  sound  returns.  Drove to mechanic put on lift car running mechanic inside car turning wheels  ..noise coming from  transfercase.  Never was the cv or bearing  ... 4 mechanic could not figure it out.

Everything is activated by bad roads or bumps .... I don't aim to drive on bumps but the slightest bump can produce  the  creak on the next turn.....

I learned how to drive the car ...without  producing the noise or creating more damage.  I am not a mechanic and know nothing about cars. I went on line and to me it sounds like a tie rod.  I do hear a light pop sound at times ...maybe a inner tie rod coming loose. New bearing, cv, brakes , ball joint, control arm ....hate to junk a perfectly great running car

The engine runs great.  No sounds going up hills or down. No sound going straight  fast or slow.  Slight sweak when braking but it been damp out. This only happens  after a bump in road triggers something and then you hear creak on left or right turn.  If you drive slow during the turn it is minimal.  When you return to driving  straight after turn the noise continues for a few feet. I can feel the creak under my foot in the middle of car .....transfercase.

Change diff oil  ...small leak but not low ...no metal  shavings. Transmission runs very smooth.  There is definitely a alignment issue right passenger outer edge worn and the left shows some wear on edge. As I said 4 mechanic looked at car and are experienced.....they repair  large truck diesel and  cars.

Can a tie rod plus worn bushing create all of these problems.  Going to try a new mechanic tomorrow  .....second  opinion.  I don't  want  to go to my local dealer.  Any advice  would  help  ....

What year is your Legacy and how many km/miles?

You could have worn bushes that max out and allow metal on metal contact of suspension arm and crossmember/mount bracket.

Worth looking at the various bushes to see what’s up. You’ll have other handling issues too if bushes are worn - possibly a crabbing like feeling in cornering. The harder the cornering, the worse the sensation.

Cheers

@SLG this is like the 5th new thread/topic you have posted on this issue... please stop hitting the "post new topic" button, and use the "reply to this topic" button instead. It will be much easier for everyone, including you, if everything is kept in one thread..  alternatively, at the bottom, there is a box you can type in to reply directly (in the box it will say "reply to this topic")

as for the car... you need to take it to a good mechanic.. preferably one that knows Subarus... and have a thorough inspection done on it.. Any good mechanic can tell you if your tie-rod ends or ball joints are bad, or if its something else - or if it is a combination of things.

When you take it in.. do not lead them by saying you think this or that is the problem.. just say it is making noises, you are not sure where it is coming from, and you want it checked over carefully.

my money is on bad struts since it happens immediately after going over a bump.
