wrxsubaru
This happened a while ago and i finaly have time to maybe fix it, my parents legacys, 92,91 both seem to have the smae problem, the ABS box right next to the intake on the engine/fender wall wont shut off. I noticed this first on my moms 91, i drove it and turned it off then i still heard a buzzing sound so i poped the hood and tracked it down to the ABS box. I then put the key in the ignition turned it on and off again no diffrence, i then left it alone for probley 2 hours came back and it was still buzing so i disconcected it. This same thing happened to my dads 92, any ideas? Thanks
Guest jclay
this seems to be a fairly common problem, the consensus is that it is the ABS relay, i've had the same problem, and asked the same question, but haven't ever gotten a definate answer as far as repair. you may also want to check the brake fluid level/ cleanliness as that seems to have something to do with it. mine does this periodically, and usually stops after a while, if it doesn't, i disconnect the battery, especially if i'm in for the night, as i once came out to a dead battery in the morning. a search for ABS noises may turn up the previous threads on this subject. jared
lmdew
I have two good ABS units, they cost me $75 ea. at the yard. Add shipping and one or both are yours. These are over $400 at 1stSubaru. Lmdew@hotmail.com
X35 Performance
Until you can get a new relay, just try tapping with your fingers on top of the box the relay sits in, it should stop buzzing.
