willd
Hi guys. My temperature gauge isn’t working and I know it is probably the sensor. I found one going into the intake manifold. I’m just not sure if that is the right one. It sounds like there might be two of them on this model. If it is working I really don’t want to mess with it. I have the hand manual and know how to check but I want to make sure I’m checking the right sensor. Could anybody with the same motor send me a picture? My Haynes manual is not exactly helping. GeneralDisorder
Disconnect it and ground the lead - does the gauge go all the way to hot? You got the right thermistor. If it doesn't try the other one. If it still doesn't you have gauge or wiring problems. GD
willd
Got it. Is there only one sensor?
Steptoe's photos
the sensor is usually a single wire under the thermostat. another sensor for auto choke off or pollution stuff is elsewhere, much fatter and screws into a bracket and not actually making contact with coolant. Follow GDs suggestion yet ?
azdave
Single wire temperature sensor located near thermostat housing on my EA82. Should be similar for yours. Edited July 6, 2022 by azdave
